The AstroGroup Denver, a recently formed teen outreach group, hosted a group of girl scouts at the Chamberlin Observatory on September 22nd, 2023.

Thank you to Denver Astronomical Society and Girl scout troop 67610 on September 22nd at DU’s Historic Chamberlin observatory! The event featured a presentation on different aspects of astronomy from Ersel Serdar, a member of AstroGroup Denver, DAS’s teen outreach group. The night concluded with a look through the 20′ refractor in the dome of the observatory, with help from Bella Grant, Unnati Mishra and Cate Davis.

AstroGroup Denver is a recently founded teen group, led by teens for people between early middle school and late high school. Our mission is to promote teenage interest in astronomy by providing opportunities for regular teenagers to get involved at the observatory. Any teenager interested can contact us at astrogroupdenver@gmail.com if interested in learning skills like telescope operation, locating objects in the night sky, and getting volunteer hours as well.

So far, we have had this successful event, as well as two other events in planning. You can check out our instagram page to see our leaders, events and more at @astrogroupdenver3. We hope to see you there!
