About the VNHA Scholarship
The scholarship honors several important figures in Denver astronomy history. William Van Nattan was a founding member of the Denver Astronomical Society and helped bring a planetarium to Denver through the Denver Museum of Nature & Science. Charles Hansen strongly supported astronomy education in Colorado and left a significant bequest to the scholarship fund. In 2023, the fund was renamed to also honor John Anderson, a longtime supporter of the Colorado astronomy community known for his work in solar observing, spectroscopy, and astronomy outreach.
Over the decades, the VNHA Scholarship has helped numerous students continue their education in science and mathematics while supporting the DAS mission of promoting astronomy education and outreach throughout Colorado.
