Here’s a brief look at what’s going on in the Mile High City this week.
June 2:

- First quarter Strawberry Moon near Regulus in the constellation Leo: 9:40 PM
- Catch Jupiter low in the western skies in Gemini around sunset. This is the last week Jupiter will be visible in the night skies as it moves to the morning skies in July.
June 3:
- Astrophotography Special Interest Group (ASIG) – General Meeting for DAS Members: 7:00 PM (more info).
June 4:

- Find the waxing gibbous Strawberry Moon along the bottom side of the Spring Triangle asterism. The Spring Triangle is formed by Arcturus (an orange giant in Boötes), Spica (a blue-white star in Virgo), and Regulus (a blue-white star in Leo).
June 5:

- Standley Lake Stargazing – “Mystery of Electromagnetism – Part 2” (virtual program): 6:00 PM (zoom link)
June 6:

- Garden of The Gods Star Party – Colorado Springs Astronomical Society: Garden of the Gods Visitor’s Center: 8:30-10:30 PM
- Catch the waxing gibbous Strawberry Moon next to Spica in the constellation Virgo.
June 7:

- The Moon reaches apogee (its farthest distance from Earth in its elliptical orbit – 251,998 miles/405,553 km away): 4:00 AM.
June 8:

- Find Saturn rising in Pisces in the early morning hours. It rises around 2:00 AM and is visible through dawn; however, looking through a telescope you will not see it’s rings. They are currently edge-on from our vantage point on earth, but they’ll reappear in November of 2025.

- The Daytime Arietids (ARI): just before dawn local time in western Aries: less than 1 per hour.
- Tau Herculids (TAH): after midnight in western Boötes: Variable activity
