Kline-Dodge Dark Site Orientation

If you’re new to DAS and need an orientation to our Kline-Dodge Dark Site, they are typically offered once a month, close to the new moon, when someone will be there to provide an orientation. Please check the events calendar on the member portal for upcoming orientations.
Be aware that orientations may need to be canceled or rescheduled based on weather or other circumstances.
Important: After registering, pay attention to your email. In case of inclement or cloudy weather or volunteer shortage, we may need to cancel or reschedule orientation.
Please arrive on time so that we need only cover the orientation material once! It takes about half an hour, and we like to finish around sunset. If you arrive early and the gate is locked, park on the road. You can park on the site when someone arrives to open the gate.
Check the weather forecast for Deer Trail and dress appropriately. If you plan to stay and observe, a good rule of thumb is to bring layers appropriate for temperatures 20F below the forecast low. Without sun or stored heat from buildings, it will be colder than you expect!
