  • The eta Aquariids meteor shower peaks between 3:00AM and sunrise. Learn more about this shower and what causes it.
  • DAS General Membership Meeting featuring Dr. Craig Edward DeForest, Director of the Department of Solar and Heliospheric Physics, Southwest Research Institute – Presenting: “NASA’s PUNCH Mission”: 7:00 p.m. Regis University Peter Claver Hall, Room 328
  • Look for the waxing Flower Moon near Regulus in Leo high in the southern sky.

  • Look for Mars right next to the Beehive Cluster (M 44) in the western skies throughout this whole week.

  • Look for the waxing Gibbous Flower Moon right next to Spica in the constellation Virgo in the southern sky around 11:00 PM.

May 10:

  • Moon at apogee (farthest from Earth) at 7PM MDT (distance 406,244km; angular size 29.4′).

  • eta Aquariids (ETA) q hour before dawn in western Aquarius: Less that 1 per hour. Peaked on May 4th.
