DAS MakerSIG Meeting

  • For this meeting, we will demonstrate how to assemble a telescope controller better than the ZWO ASI Air. You won’t need to program or 3D print anything. You will need about $150 in parts. Required tools: scissors and pliers.

  • Demonstrate a third way to set up KSTARS and PhD2 on the Raspberry Pi (rPi): Compiling the KSTARS / PhD2 source code natively on the rPi is easy since there are already free “MAKE” routines to do the job. We will demonstrate this approach during our meeting and explain why this is optimal.

  • We have the first imagery of IC 443, the Jellyfish Nebula, using KSTARS and will show you that.

  • Finally, there will be a live demo of KSTARS, weather permitting. If not, we have screenshots from the IC443 imaging session and a demonstration of the overall concept of operations.

The DAS Maker SIG is a special interest group focused on DIY astronomy building projects, strongly emphasizing designing and 3D printing custom parts for your viewing and astrophoto rigs.
