Share the Night Sky with the Public!
Become part of a historic Denver institution and learn to operate a 25-foot-long refractor telescope!

In partnership with the University of Denver, the Denver Astronomical Society (DAS) operates the historic Chamberlin Observatory about three nights a week. We rely on six dedicated volunteer teams—but we’re looking for a few more passionate individuals to join us, especially on Thursday and Saturday nights for our Astronomy Nights, Open Houses, and occasional special events.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Must-have:

    • Reliability. Volunteers are expected to commit to their assigned team’s regular schedule, typically two nights per month.

    • MUST be a DAS member
  • Nice-to-have:

    • 18 years or older

    • Able to provide your own transportation

    • Some mechanical aptitude

    • Basic astronomical knowledge

    • Comfortable speaking with the public

Don’t worry—we’ll teach you everything else you need to know!
