ALERT: VERY POOR WEATHER CONDITIONS FOR OBSERVING MAY 11-14

The Weather Forecast for the Dark Sky Weekend and the entire period (Friday, Saturday, Sunday, and Monday) is not good for astronomical observing. Cloud cover for the evenings of May 11th and 12th is forecast to be 80% – 95%, with conditions worsening after midnight. The Clear Sky Chart shows poor transparency and seeing with (unlikely) clearing for a very brief period around midnight. Strong Easterly and North Easterly winds often bring clouds and moisture, and that is what is forecast for the period. The conditions don’t resolve until Thursday, May 17th, but poor conditions are forecast to return for the weekend of May 18-20.

Site orientations are not conducted on evenings when conditions make astronomical observing impossible.
