Astrophotography: Imaging Equipment Set-Ups and Image Processing

Come to the July 7th In-Reach!  This month, we’re foregoing the usual lecture-type format in favor of an image-capture workshop for astrophotography.  Robert Arn, Ken Sturrock, Sorin, and Jim Newman will be on hand to demonstrate how to set up the equipment and choose a good camera for taking images. Joe Gafford and Ken will also be able to dip into the image processing part of what to do with the shots taken.  As a bonus, Dr. Bob Stencel will also be there with a light pollution information; he may also have some pointers about how to filter images when taken under light-polluted conditions.

If you’re not quite ready for astrophotography, the usual hands-on instruction is always fun to do as well.  Bring your equipment and learn more about how to use it, and if you’re experienced, come on out and help someone learn.  Remember to bring snack food as we all like to share the nibbles.  In case of rain, the imaging setups can still be viewed and explained inside the observatory, together with the image processing.
